Wedding Singers & The Wedding Singer
It has become a matter of some comic relief when wedding vocalists are shown in movies or on television. Almost always, guests are rolling their eyes and shaking their heads with the musical selections. There is a tendency for overly emotional favorites to be played and sung in a humous fashion (a la Old School or Adam Sandler's The Wedding Singer). That said, there are many talented vocalists available for weddings with beautiful singing voices.
Choosing whether to have a male or female vocalist at the wedding is a personal decision. If there’s a favorite song that the bride or groom must hear during the ceremony, the sex of the vocalist may be contingent upon this particular song. It's important to choose a male or female vocalist based on the song selection played by the wedding band.
The bride and groom should keep in mind that the vocalist at the wedding will sound different than their favorite singer. This is especially the case when the wedding band plays songs by various artists. This might actually be a special thing, as guests may enjoy a taste of a musical style very different from one they actually preferred at home and are accustomed to hearing.
At some weddings, a famous singer may make an appearance to play a favorite song of the bride or groom. While this cameo appearance may be a bit expensive, it will add an unforgetable element to this special occassion. If a special vocalist is featured at the wedding, the wedding photographer should be directed to capture this moment.
